Hartlepool United manager Ian Butterworth says that is not concerned by the club’s lack of clean sheets so far this season. Pools kept the opposition out on twenty-one occasions last term as they clinched promotion but have managed just one clean sheet so far in this campaign, in a 2-0 win at Port Vale in late August.
“It’s not too much of a concern at the moment. The lads set such a high standard last season with the record amount of clean sheets and they want to get back to that standard,” said Butterworth to the Hartlepool mail.

“I have no doubt they will improve as the season goes on. There have been a couple of little mistakes, which will happen from time to time, but when you move up a level you are more likely to get punished for those mistakes. It’s no big deal and it’s not just about the defence. We attack as a team and we defend as a team.”
